Classes:
Please skip to the next two sections for specific courses, dates and locations. Read-on here if you’ve got a minute – it’s a little bit about us……
Our Courses have two distinct loci – Austin/C-TX in Winter, Fall, Spring and Southern New England in the Summer/Fall. Why these two? Several layers of reasons:
– Growing Seasons: Jan – Mar and again in Sept – Nov are the two main
growing seasons foer veggies/grass in C-TX, and a lot of things will
make it/thrive through the mild winters. April – Sept and early Oct is the
Southern New Engalnd season. So the two match up well and
compliment one another. It is best to teach PC when things are growing.
– Climate – Humans used to be a migratory species until farms, jobs,
schools, investments, possessions held us in one place and housing,
furnaces/stoves, and air conditioners allowed us to be comfortable when
it’s uncomfortable. Our plan is to enjoy Austin 6-9 months a year and S
NE for 3-6 months.
– Friends, Family, Associates, Permaculture/Gardening demand. I am from
SE MA, my wife is from Upstate NY, and we’ve lived in S CT – about 40
years worth and love it, love the people, love the seasons, and the
bounty. And we’ve wandered a bit – Boca Raton, FL, Atlanta, GA,
Boulder, CO and now 11 years in Austin, TX. We’ve done/learned a lot in
each of these great places. Permaculture learning started for us in
Boulder about 15 years ago and the PC teaching, about 10 years ago
here in Austin.
– We/I love to teach and travel – we also love Martha’s Vineyard – and it
turns out to be a grand place to teach Permaculture. I’ve been going
there since I was a young teen and my wife and children have fallen for i
it as well. My son has a popular song “The Vineyard” – check out
